 donnerhall1

Grandsire: Donnerhall, 16.3hh Liver Chesnut Stallion, 1981 - 2002

Donnerhall is the most successful dressage horse in the world and this was combined with a legendary career as a stallion. At the stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf, Donnerhall achieved the second best result - vice champion, unbeatable in rideability, with a score of 9.5. Donnerhall was a quick learner. Flying changes being no problem for him, a characteristic that is true for his progeny. After two years of training the stallion mastered the Grand Prix programme.

After many wins in Grand Prix, at International level he became the 1994 German Champion with Karin Rehbein. In 1997 he claimed Team Gold and Individual Bronze in the World Equestrian Games. In 1998 he was again included in the German World Championship team, where he obtained fourth in the individual results. Donnerhall won the World Cup European League as well as being the Oldenburg Dressage Stallion of the year in 1997 and 1998.

At the end of 1998, he farewelled himself from competition sport 'fresh as a daisy' at 17yrs and he was frenetically applauded at all stages of his farewell tour. His dressage wins included over 100 wins at Advanced dressage and above, with winnings of nearly half million DM.

As a sire, Donnerhall has left behind a wealth of talent in his sons and grandsons. Horses such as Davignon, De Niro, Don Primero, Don Schufro, Don Gregory, Donovan Bailey, Domalio, Duvalier to name but a few.

 rubinstein

Great Grandsire: Rubinstein, 16.3hh Black Stallion, 1986- 2000

Johann Hinneman, the fomer federal trainer of the German Dressage Elite said 'when we consider a stallion of the century, we refer to Rubinstein. His hereditary transmission is unequalled in respect to rideability seating comfort, affability and preparedness to perform. Truly a legendary stallion'.

Rubinstein departed the Dressage stage in June 2000 aged 14, much too early. However in his time he had 40 wins at Grand Prix level, was a member of the 1996 Olympic team, sired 89 state premium mares and 66 approved stallions and was the sire of top auction horses and Grand Prix winners.

Rubinstein was bred from an outstanding dressage family. His dam Antine was full sister to Amon and Ahlerich. Ahlerich with Dr Reine Klimke was twice Olympic team champion (Los Angeles and Seoul) as well as individual Gold medal winner (Los Angeles). As well as being double world champion he was a fourfold European champion. Amon also competed in the Olympic games (three times) and was Dutch champion seven times under Annemarie Sanders-Keyzar. Antine's full sister Adone was the dam of Rembrandt, who with Nicole Uphoff-Becker became twice individual Gold and team Gold Olympic champions.

Rubinsteins progeny include wonderful stallions such as Rhodiamant, Rubioso, Rotspon, Rosenstar S and Relevant who has just won a 'special awarded' Silver medal at the European Championships at Hickstead with his american rider Lisa Wilcox.

He was a very successful sire and had progeny who performed in all disciplines, 49 of his offspring were successful in Advanced dressage and 19 showjumpers reached Advanced level. However as a broodmare sire Pik Bube was a phenomenon, especialy when teamed with Donnerhall. Horses such as Davignon, Don Primero, Don Schufro, Donatelli, Donnerbube, Dream of Glory and Duntroon were all bred on that magic cross.

Great Granddams - State Premium Elite Walide, Walzerschritt and Walzertraum

Donnerflo's sire has a dam line that equals the quality of the stallion lines. Many generations of these mares were bred by Mr Droege-Otten at Ermke, Germany. This is the Waldhexe-Stud dam line

Walzer- Rubina, by Rubinstein out of Walzerschritt, unfortunately never competed at the Elite show due to injury. She bred seven foals, one a licensed stallion (Donnersmark) and his full sister who became a finalist in the Champion Elite Oldenburg mare show, Walzertanz.

Walzertanz finished seventh in the 2003 Elite Oldenburg mare show and she is a full sister of Donnersmark (Donnerhall x Walzer Rubina). Walzertanz is still based with Mr Droege-Otten and as he described 'is one of the best stud mares we have today, along with her grandam Walzerschritt, who we also still have'.
